Axolotl

The axolotl is a unique freshwater salamander that is native to the canals and lakes of Mexico City. They have a distinct appearance with a broad head, external gills, and a long, slender body that can range in color from brown to pink to white. Axolotls are popular pets and are known for their regenerative abilities, as they are able to regenerate limbs, spinal cords, and even parts of their brain. They are a hardy species that can adapt well to captivity and can be kept in a tank with other species that are not small enough to be seen as prey. Axolotls are nocturnal and prefer to be kept in cooler temperatures, around 60-68°F (15-20°C), making them a great option for those who prefer a lower-maintenance pet.
