Limnopilos naiyanetri, also known as the Thai Micro Crab or False spider crab, is a small freshwater crab species native to Thailand. They are named for their small size, with adults typically only reaching a maximum size of around 0.5 inches (1.3 cm).
Thai Micro Crabs are semi-aquatic and require a combination of land and water in their aquarium. They need a spacious aquarium with a land area, such as a pile of rocks or a piece of wood, for them to climb out of the water and molt. They are omnivorous and will feed on both plant and animal matter, including algae wafers, blanched vegetables, and small live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp or bloodworms.
Water parameters for Thai Micro Crabs should be kept stable, with a pH between 7.0 and 8.0, and temperatures between 72-82°F (22-28°C). They are generally peaceful and can be kept with other peaceful species of fish or invertebrates, but should not be kept with larger, more aggressive fish that may view them as food.
It is important to note that Thai Micro Crabs can be escape artists and will try to climb out of their aquarium if they do not have a secure lid. They are also sensitive to poor water quality and require regular water changes and proper maintenance of the aquarium. Thai Micro Crabs are often considered a challenging species to keep due to their specific care requirements, but can make interesting and unique additions to a well-maintained aquarium.
