L002 Tiger Pleco
In older literature, there was a species sometimes referred to as Peckoltia vermiculata. However, upon examining the dentition, it became apparent that the dental characteristics of this species matched those of Panaqolus spp. Further investigation was conducted by comparing photographs of the type specimen of Peckoltia vermiculata, which is currently housed in a museum in Vienna. As a result of this thorough examination, it is now clear that L002 is not the same species as Peckoltia vermiculata. In fact, L002 represents an unidentified species, as its specific classification remains unknown.
Additionally, it has been observed that L074 closely resembles a faded version of L002. This similarity in appearance suggests a possible connection or relationship between the two species.
In summary, while there may have been confusion regarding the taxonomy and classification of L002 in the past, recent analysis and comparisons have led to the conclusion that it is an unidentified species. The connection between L074 and L002 indicates a potential relationship between these two fish, with L074 displaying a faded resemblance to L002.
