Red Rainbowfish, also known as Glossolepis incisus, is a popular freshwater fish species that is native to Papua New Guinea. They are known for their bright and vibrant colors, with males being more colorful than females. The male Red Rainbowfish displays a bright red-orange color on its body, while the female is more subdued with a silver or light golden color.
Red Rainbowfish are active swimmers and are best kept in groups of at least 6 individuals, preferably in a spacious aquarium with plenty of swimming room. They prefer a well-planted aquarium with open areas for swimming, and subdued lighting. Red Rainbowfish are not picky eaters and will readily accept a variety of foods, including flake, pellet, freeze-dried, and live foods.
Red Rainbowfish are relatively easy to care for and are considered a good choice for beginner aquarists. They are peaceful fish and can be kept with other community fish that are similar in size and temperament. With proper care, Red Rainbowfish can live up to 5-7 years in captivity.
