Description
The Ranchu goldfish, known as the "king of goldfish," is one of 125 species of fancy goldfish that have been bred in captivity. Originating in China, Ranchus were bred to resemble a sumo wrestler's physique, with a heavy, round body and head.
As a result of being bred in captivity, Ranchu goldfish cannot be found in the wild. Compared to other species, they are less robust and require more attention to their care due to their captive origins.
