For optimal care, angelfish should be housed in a warm aquarium with a temperature of around 80 °F (27 °C) and soft, acidic water with a pH level below 6.5. Despite being part of the cichlid family, angelfish are generally peaceful unless they are in the process of mating. It's important to remember that the general rule of "big fish eat little fish" applies, so suitable tank mates should be chosen carefully.
