The Aral barbel (Luciobarbus brachycephalus) is a member of the Luciobarbus genus, representing a ray-finned fish species. It inhabits the Aral basin, Chu drainage, and the southern and western regions of the Caspian Sea. During its breeding season, it undertakes migrations towards the larger tributaries situated along the western and southern shores.
