Description
With a blunt head and broad body, Hoplias curupira are medium-sized but relatively bulky compared to other Hoplias species. Their color changes according to mood, ranging from light brown patterning to an almost solid black coloring, which is why they are commonly referred to as Black Wolf-fish. Wild specimens have been reported up to 75 cm in length, although the average size in captivity is around 40 cm.
