The Farlowella Catfish (Farlowella acus), commonly known as the Twig Catfish, is a unique freshwater fish known for its elongated, stick-like appearance that provides excellent camouflage in planted aquariums. Native to slow-moving rivers and streams in South America, this peaceful bottom-dweller thrives in tanks with soft, slightly acidic water and plenty of driftwood and plants. They are primarily algae eaters, requiring a diet supplemented with blanched vegetables or algae wafers. Farlowella Catfish are relatively shy and do best in calm community tanks with non-aggressive tankmates. Proper care includes maintaining pristine water conditions, as they are sensitive to poor water quality.
