L067 Yellow Edged Pleco

The Yellow Seam or L067 Pleco is an attractive and medium-sized species of pleco that can be found in the warm and fast-moving waters of Brazil's Rio Xingu. It is a relatively newly described species that is not commonly found in the aquarium hobby.

In its natural habitat, the Yellow Seam pleco is primarily herbivorous, feeding on algae mats, terrestrial and aquatic plants, and biofilms. However, like many herbivorous plecos, they also consume insect larvae, crustaceans, and other sources of protein. In an aquarium setting, it is important to provide a varied diet that includes plenty of vegetable matter to ensure the long-term health and well-being of this species.

To replicate their natural habitat, it is recommended to keep Yellow Seam plecos in an aquarium with warm, well-oxygenated water and ample water movement or current. Providing hiding places in the form of rocks and caves will offer them the necessary cover.

It is worth noting that the Yellow Seam pleco belongs to the genus Pseudancistrus, which is often referred to as "bearded plecos" due to the development of impressive rigid bristles around the outer rim of the males' snouts.

Overall, the Yellow Seam or L067 Pleco is an intriguing species that adds visual appeal to the aquarium. By creating a suitable environment with the right water conditions, ample hiding spots, and a diverse diet that includes plenty of vegetable matter, aquarists can ensure the long-term success and vitality of these plecos.
