L47 Mango Pleco
The Mango or Magnum Pleco is a visually stunning and medium-sized pleco species that inhabits the rocky, warm, and fast-flowing waters of the Rio Xingu in Brazil. Owing to their unique natural habitat, these fish have specific requirements to thrive in an aquarium and may not be ideal for a typical community tank setup. To ensure their well-being, it is recommended to maintain a warmer temperature of around 80°F, along with well-oxygenated water and a moderate to strong current. These plecos can be somewhat shy when kept individually, so it is advisable to keep them in groups and provide ample hiding places. While they consume vegetables and algae-based foods, they readily accept frozen bloodworms and carnivore diets such as the Repashy insectivore gel diet. Taking these factors into consideration will help create an optimal environment for the Mango or Magnum Pleco to flourish in captivity.
