The Boeseman's Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia boesemani) is a popular freshwater fish species among aquarium hobbyists. Native to the Ayamaru Lakes region in West Papua, Indonesia, they are known for their striking and vivid coloration, which consists of blue and green hues with orange and yellow accents.

Boeseman's Rainbowfish are a relatively peaceful species and can be kept in community tanks with other non-aggressive species. They are schooling fish, so they should be kept in groups of at least six individuals to prevent them from becoming stressed.

In terms of aquarium setup, Boeseman's Rainbowfish prefer a heavily planted tank with plenty of open swimming space. They also appreciate the addition of driftwood and rocks for hiding places and spawning sites. The water temperature should be maintained between 75-82°F (24-28°C) with a pH range of 7.0-8.0.

Boeseman's Rainbowfish are omnivores and will readily accept a variety of food, including flake, pellets, and frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp and bloodworms.
