Red Tail Barracudas have elongated, streamlined bodies that are silver-gray in color. Their most distinctive feature is their bright red tail fin, which is where they get their name. They have a powerful jaw with sharp teeth, which they use to catch and eat small fish and invertebrates.

In an aquarium, Red Tail Barracudas require a large tank with plenty of swimming space and hiding places, such as caves or driftwood. They prefer a slightly acidic water pH and are sensitive to water quality, so regular water changes and maintenance are important.

Red Tail Barracudas can be aggressive towards other fish, especially if they are small enough to be considered prey. Therefore, it is recommended to keep them with larger, similarly aggressive fish that can hold their own. They are also known to jump out of tanks, so a tight-fitting lid is necessary to prevent escapes.
