Silver Dollar
Freshwater silver dollar fish, also known as Metynnis species, are a popular choice among aquarium hobbyists due to their attractive silver coloration, round body shape, and peaceful temperament. They are a schooling fish, so it's recommended to keep them in groups of at least 6 to 8 individuals. They prefer planted aquariums with plenty of hiding places and open swimming spaces. Silver dollars are herbivores and should be fed a diet consisting of high-quality flake or pellet food, as well as fresh vegetables such as spinach, lettuce, and zucchini. These fish are relatively hardy and can tolerate a range of water parameters, but they do require clean and well-oxygenated water. They are also known to be jumpers, so a tight-fitting lid is necessary to prevent them from escaping the aquarium.
