African Tiger Fish
The freshwater African tiger fish from Congo, scientifically known as Hydrocynus vittatus, is a popular game fish that has recently become popular in the aquarium hobby due to its unique appearance and predatory nature. It is a large, aggressive fish that is native to the rivers and lakes of the Congo Basin in Africa. The African tiger fish has a torpedo-shaped body, silver scales, and large, sharp teeth that are designed to catch and eat other fish. In an aquarium, the African tiger fish requires a large, spacious tank with plenty of swimming room and hiding places. It is a carnivorous fish that requires a diet of live or frozen meaty foods, such as feeder fish, shrimp, and worms. Due to its size and predatory nature, the African tiger fish is not recommended for beginner aquarium hobbyists and should only be kept by experienced aquarists who are able to provide the necessary care and conditions.
